Single sign on is a cloud-based identity management system that allows users to login once to access multiple applications. It is a useful tool for people who need to use multiple applications daily.
Broward College recently partnered with Clever SSO to implement this new method of login. To use it, students need to sign up for a badge and a browser plugin.
Single Sign-On (SSO)
Single sign on, or SSO, is a method of securely granting users access to multiple broward single sign on applications and websites with just one login. It streamlines the authentication process and allows for easier management of passwords across linked services. It also allows users to more easily share their credentials with other people.
To use SSO, a user must register for an account using their username and password. This information is stored in an identity management service or database that is connected to the SP.
Once a user has registered, they can log in to their SSO account and use it to access most of the Broward website applications that students need. The user may utilise a second authentication method, such as an alternate password or security questions, to ensure their identity is secure.
If a student has forgotten their SSO account password, they can use the self-service password reset option available on the Broward SSO Launchpad. This will allow them to reset their password from anywhere.
The SSO service will then send a token to the identity provider (IdP), which verifies that the user is who they claim to be and that they have the right to access the application. This process is called identity federation, which is the main component of SSO.
Authentication tokens are digitally stored data that verify the user’s identity. They are written in a standard language, such as SAML, and use communication standards to ensure that they are valid.
To sign in, a user must visit the SSO launchpad, which is an interactive portal that displays all of the district’s applications. Once a user has signed in, they can access their student accounts and perform various tasks such as checking grades, registering for classes, scheduling appointments, and more.
In January 2019, BCPS decided to shift their SSO system to Clever, which is a new software system that will help students and faculty to access their accounts without having to remember passwords or usernames. The switch was made because of problems that the original SSO vendor had been having, such as apps that frequently stopped working and system crashes.
Web Portal
Students, teachers, and administrators can now access most Broward applications using a single sign-on. This solution, called Broward Single Sign-On (SSO), allows users to log in once and use their own unique username and password. It also features a launchpad that displays all apps in one place and enables users to manage their accounts from a single location.
With a single sign-on, users can access any application they have been given permission to use and access it on their personal devices. In addition, it offers an easy way to manage their account information, including passwords, usernames, and more. It also provides a self-service password update option, which eliminates the need for callers to contact the service desk.
The SSO login process requires a user to register with their Broward ID, which is a student or worker ID. Afterward, the user can use their username and password to log in to their account. They can also use an alternate authentication method, which requires the user to answer a series of security questions.
In addition, the SSO system can be integrated with other learning management systems and digital learning platforms. This makes it easier for students to access the resources they need and helps teachers save time by eliminating the need to manage multiple accounts.
Personalized learning: The platform recommends different resources and applications based on the learning needs, strengths, and weaknesses of individual students. This approach ensures that students are able to learn at their own pace and achieve their full potential.
Collaborative tools: The portal integrates with various collaborative learning and communication tools, enabling students to connect with teachers and other peers. This makes it easier for students to participate in classroom discussions and collaborate on projects.
Privacy concerns: The platform collects and stores personal information, which can be vulnerable to data breaches. This can lead to a loss of privacy for students and teachers.
Limited resources: The platform doesn’t provide access to all the educational materials and applications that students need. This may leave some students and teachers behind, especially those who do not have access to a reliable internet connection or adequate computer skills.
School Choice Family Account
For families with students enrolled in a Broward public school, the School Choice Family Account is the central point of access to their student information. It enables families to check the status of their student application, view reports and track their progress in school.
A parent can also access information on their student’s grades, attendance and behavior. These reports help parents and schools assess student performance and determine how they are doing compared to others in the district.
The Broward School Choice program has grown and evolved over the years to include more options for families who want to customize their children’s educational experiences. This has led to the addition of new specialized programs in subjects such as aviation and health sciences.
Families can choose from public and private schools that offer unique educational experiences. These may include traditional, charter or virtual schools that use a variety of learning methods.
Many of these options are available for children in kindergarten through grade 12. But there are also programs for younger and older students that can provide new opportunities to explore a particular subject or interest.
There are also a number of adult education classes offered by the district, including business courses, arts and crafts and parenting. These classes can be a great way for older students to gain new skills and learn about careers they have always wanted to pursue.

With a rich history of more than 100 years, Broward County has evolved into one of the country’s premier public school systems. The district focuses on academic achievement and is committed to providing students of all backgrounds with the best possible education.
The district boasts an impressive list of academic programs and opportunities, as well as a large variety of community-based resources and staff members to support these efforts. The district has also developed a wide range of special education services, including its Hope Scholarship program, which allows Florida children who have been bullied or harassed to change schools or attend an approved private school.
Student Access Report for Administrators
The Student Access Report (SAR) is an innovative web portal that provides students, parents and educators with the most up to date information about the district’s nearly 2,000 schools and associated programs. This multilingual portal boasts several innovative features and functions, including the ability to track student performance over time, and display a wealth of data in an easily digestible form. The SAR is a worthy addition to the District’s growing technology portfolio. The SAR is the best way to keep students and their families safe, informed and connected. The SAR is also a great way to enhance the learning experience by improving collaboration and communication among stakeholders, while reducing the burden on teachers and administrators. The SAR is a big step toward creating a more inclusive and equitable District for all its students, staff and parents. The best news is that it is free to use! The SAR is a useful and fun way to stay abreast of what’s happening in your community, and how you can best support it.
